Moong Dal is split and skinned green grammes and is a common source of plant-based protein throughout India. It is generally soaked in water for about an hour before being used in different dishes, or it can be soaked in water overnight and then made into a batter. Moong dal is mostly used in making lentil curries and rasams, besides being used in a wide variety of sweet and savoury dishes.

Moong dal is a great source of proteins, fibres, iron, vitamin B6, vitamin C, magnesium, and calcium. It is generally recommended for people recovering from diseases or suffering mild diseases like an upset stomach or diarrhoea. Moong dal has a lower cooking time, is easily digestible, and is ideal for people who don’t have much time for elaborate meal preparations. It is a staple source of proteins all over India.
